Nu känns det som om sommaren tar sina sista skälvande andetag, men visst har det varit härligt att augusti bjöd oss på lite sol och värme efter en minst sagt tråkig juli!? Sommarhalvåret betyder kalas här i vår familj. Ja faktiskt hela familjen fyller i maj, juni, juli och augusti. Och när Axel fyllde bjöd vi in till 4-årskalas i trädgården. Först tänkte jag köra på klassiskt upplägg med kakor och tårta, men i ärlighetens namn, hur mycket hinner barn i 4 års åldern sitta still och fika? När det finns massor av kompisar, leksaker och en stor gräsmatta att tumla runt på.
Så jag gjorde iordning en glasskiosk istället. För glass är bra mycket enklare att äta i all hast än tårta!
Glassbyttorna ställde jag i en trälåda som jag lagt ispåsar i botten på. Glassen serverades antingen i strut eller bägare, som bägare tog jag vanliga pappersmuggar i fina färger. Till glassen fanns strössel, mini-marshmallows, jordgubbar, kola-och chokladsås att välja på som topping. Ett stort fat med jordgubbar och olika sorters melon stod framme under hela kalaset som barnen kunde smaska på fritt.
För de som inte gillade glass hade jag gjort superenkla melonglassar. Man skär melonen i trekanter, gör ett snitt i skalet med en vass kniv och trycker sedan in en glasspinne. Glasspinnar finns att köpa på Panduro eller andra hobbyaffärer. Lägg melonglassarna på ett fat och frys in i ett par timmar. Klart! Enkelt och väldigt uppskattat av både barn och vuxna.
Nu är det bara minstingen i familjen som ska fylla ett om ett par dagar, sedan har vi klarat av alla födelsedagar för detta år!
